It really depends what service center your I 130 is going through. California seems to faster than Vermont... In 2006, when I submitted our I 130 in California, it took about four to five months to be approved...

    Good luck......

Approval of the I-130 is a lot faster than one year ago. Just recently a friend of the family petitioned for his son on August 19 (received) and the approval notice was sent out on September 29. So a little less than 2 months. This was through Vermont.
Son-in-Law Approved on August 6, Guatemala.

    Hello,

Well we filed our i-130 in May 2009 and just received our approved notice in September. So it took 5 months for us, but for some its faster. Good luck.

They are def. moving things faster this year! Mine took 7 months last year, but I had to go to an interview at the local office and that adds time to your case.

What do you guys mean by "service center"? I sent mine to a Chicago address. Actually, I think both addresses that it could be sent to were Chicago addresses. Did I do something wrong?

They all go to Chicago addresses I believe but the one you send it to depends on where you live. That's the only difference as far as I know.
Starting over again with life. This time with a happy outcome! "Each of us will face trials and tests, and . . . it is how we react to those difficulties that will determine our success and happiness. Each of us will face adversity no matter where we are. We are taught in the scriptures that there 'must needs be . . . an opposition in all things' (2 Nephi 2:11). We will each face times of difficulty, and the question is not when we will face them but how we face them."
