why do so many latins have nicknames?

hubbies nickname is chico, and the kids really find it funny. when ever they hear his cousins call him that they start laughing. hubby calls is brother pollo or cavras ya know chupracabras (sp?) lol, and also a name I have no clue how to spell but I think it's like lil bro or something. Trust me his brother does kind of look like a monster lol. But other family members are called Texas, chapis, gordo, negro, blanco (the persons not white skinned??), rico/a (yes seriously lol), vaca, porqo (the pig word?), and la reina.

I never call hubs chico. His name is Francisco, and so I call him Franc or Franco (depending on the day and place...

For once I agree with you. My husband has one to that his family only calls him "Chino" he does have a very common name.

My husband doesn't have curly hair though..and never did. I think it's cause he has olive eyes that look slanted like an Asian's. A lot of people think he is Asian at first.

Haha well i just came back from my soccer game and its funny because thats true i dont even know their real names and we have played for so many years!

During the game we just hear people(including me) saying....Chupacabras, pelon, chikis,rana, ronaldo(soccer players names), cuate, maleta, negro, chaparro, manotas, pendejin, cremas, skool boy, and fantasma(Even our Coach!)

Oh and they call me..Zurdo, tiger, cocu, and my wife Poser.

they call my hubby patru (short for patrulla, i dont know why). His brother is chancharro (his name is juan), then there's patron, zorra (and zorra's kids are zorritos ) and negra, paguela (i guess this is really skinny thing because this is the nickname for the skinniest of the bunch). I could keep going for hours, but you guys get the drift.

or Chito and Chico, or panchito & bebe.. my mom is macrina--->macri... cousin sarai is guerra, flaca.. bf patty is patita.. her mom concepsion is concha...those are all the nicknames in my fam. I don't know why we do it.. we are WEIRD MARTIANS I guess... lol j/k

guys are weird... hubby and friends are: ruvalcaba, nalga-ladeada, camaleon, paisano, chilango, mala-suerte, el bosnio, they call each other these names in public.. in fact I don't even know some of the real names... idk what their deal is, they ARE martians from outerspace lol

but we do have nicknames for our cars. We call the BMW " la naranjita mecanica" after the Dutch soccer team

His family consists of: Negro, Mocho, Chino, Tinieblas, Pepe, and Cristina, who doesn't have a nickname. Little brother Juan doesn't have one, either. I have no clue...
