What Food can I take into Mexico from the USA?

    Hello,
I will be going to Mexico for christmas holidays but I can't find an official site that tells me what food I can/can't take into Mexico. I tried calling the mexican embassy/consualte but no one ever answers. I was really hoping someone can help me out. Thanks in advance for any help.

Man, I don't know the offical list, but this is what I brought, case of Redbull, case of Starbucks Frapps, jerky, case of oatmeal, case of assorted cookies and crackers, case of coffee creamers, 4 boxes of assorted truffles, case of trail mix and a case of water. There was no fruit or veggies, unless they were dried, and same with meat, only dried. Can you tell I went to Costco?? We drove, and I got snacks for the way there and back, then snacks that I thought his family would enjoy. Oh yeah, there was all kinds of fruit snacks and candy too. Have a safe trip, and remember, Have Lots of Fun!!

You can't bring fruits.... I got stopped in customs in Mexico City and that's because they saw an orange in my son's backpack. So no fruits.

Hubby was found ineligible for the I601 Wavier based on Section 212(a)(3)(A)(ii). They cannot issue a visa who is entering the US for the purpose of committing a crime in the future.

Next Steps: Currently living in Playas de Tijuana, BC. Meanwhile our attorney Laurel Scott has filed an AO last November on our behalf. We will continue to demand that the consulate allow us to file an I601 wavier....

Check out the Duty Free and Prohibited Products section of the My Life in Mexico website and scroll down to Prohibited Products. It lists some foods that you are not supposed to bring such as fresh or frozen meat, poultry or fish and dairy products. I think those and spices/seasonings are the only major things that are forbidden.

So I am guessing that you drove in. At first I was thinking, "Wow she put all that in her suitcases"

Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping to bring in spices, powder mash potatoes, canned fruit, mac and cheese, (things either in cans or bags). I am not trying anything frozen or fresh.
